1 Gibb`s first name Leroy, is also the show`s creator and writer Don Bellisario`s father`s name, and Gibb`s second name Jethro is Donald Bellisario`s grandfather`s name.
2 Other similarities that Gibbs shares with co-creator of “NCIS” Donald Bellisario, are that both have been married four times, they were both born in small coal mining towns in Pennsylvania and both served in the US Marine Corp as Gunnery Sergeants.
3 Gibbs first appeared in a two-part episode of “JAG” called “Meltdown” and “Ice Queen,” which was first screened in April 2003, in “JAG”s eighth season. “NCIS” premiered the following September.
4 Gibb`s official NCIS Title is Senior NCIS Special Agent/Control Officer.
5 He served in Iraq and Kuwait in the First Gulf War in operation Desert Storm.
6 He speaks Russian,is fluent in American Sign Language and is a trained sniper.
7 Gibbs has a daughter Kelly born in 1984 – but she was killed in a car accident with Shannon, her mother and Gibbs first wife.
8 Gibb`s Mother is deceased. But his Father: Jackson Gibbs still lives in Gibb`s hometown Stillwater: Pennsylvania. Where he runs a grocery store.
9 Gibbs served as a Military Police Officer in Jacksonville North Carolina.
10 Whenever Gibbs needs to speak in private with someone, he invites them to the Conference Room. Which in reality is the NCIS building elevator with the emergency stop button pressed in.
11 Gibbs learned the trick of silently appearing behind people`s back`s, in the Marine Corp. Usually to his co-workers surprise and embarrassment. The main victim is usually Tony DiNozzo, but others members of the team have fallen victim. Strangely the victim always senses Gibb`s presence, as the Gibbs stare can even be felt thru the back of the head.
